doesn't necessarily equate to a shapeless swath of unidentifiable fabric. No, in fact wearing black lets you get away with silhouettes and hems that just wouldn't work in colour.
The A-line silhouette of this Zambesi mini skirt makes it far more flattering and the tights and boots make it wearable while the weather's still deciding what it wants to do. In a pastel or vibrant hue this would all be too much, but basic black pulls the whole outfit together, with the suede boots and the maroon jumper.
This jumper works so much better with a high-waisted A-line skirt because it isn't fitted at the bottom. If it was, the silhouette would be bulky and not doing the wearer (ie me) any favours. As it's loose at the bottom the line flows into the skirt and just like that, it creates a fluid silhouette. Voila!
