Sense and Scents

God two weeks since my last post, and about the same since I went for a run... I really need to get more organised.

Just a quick little post to talk about perfumes! What girl doesn't love perfume?

I recently bought the new Balenciaga fragrance - Florabotanica. It smells amazing, not too florally and girly, but not too edgy either! Perfect for day and night and the eau de parfum stays on forever, I could even smell it the next day even after my shower. Now that's quality.
My decision was somewhat swayed by the packaging and advertising campaign - Kristen Stewart looked stunning and I loved Nicolas Ghesquiere's idea behind it (an overgrown garden made up of interesting plants and flowers - a welcome change from the usual enchanted forest of every Teenage perfume).

It's definitely become my new go-to fragrance!

What's your fav perfume?

Festival Chic

Coming up is the Soundwave music festival in Australia. I'm not lucky enough to be heading over the ditch, however some of friends are, so here's my guide to looking the part whether you're in Australia's heat or knee-deep in mud at Glastonbury!

A cute pair of flouncy shorts for a little less of the usual hippy look, but still have a whimsical touch to them.

American Apparel - http://store.americanapparel.net/product/?productId=rsase303

A bustier crop top is a must for those sweaty crowds, if you're not quite so fond of your stomach, team it with a pair of high-waisted shorts!

A maxi dress is a great option, and it takes up less room in your holdall - bonus!  http://www.shopbop.com/valley-rose-90s-girl-maxi/vp/v=1/1594927155.htm?folderID=2534374302177039&fm=other-shopbysize&colorId=32853

A maxi dress might seem like high maintenance at a festival due to its' long hem, but just
tie a chic little knot in the fabric like so, and no worries about the hem dragging on the ground!

After the ticket, travel and accommodation expenses there might not be a whole lot of room left in the style budget, but that's where accessories come in! An easy way to update and theme any outfit, and with a one-size fits-all policy, there's nothing to lose!

A classic pair of sunglasses (if you're budget doesn't quite stretch to a pair of Ray-Ban Clubmasters then try these almost identical ones from Topshop!) http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&productId=8635328&langId=-1&categoryId=&searchTerm=festival&pageSize=20

A mini-satchel is perfect to keep the necessities in: sunglasses, lip balm, keys, phone etc!

So there you have it! Just a few thing to set you apart from the crowd of festival-goers.
Happy Head-banging

First things first

My first blog post, ever. I wondered for a long time what my first post should be about. Something exciting, but not too ambitious. Something that makes people want to keep reading, but isn't a thousand words long. And than as if it was a message from above, my beloved Havaiana jandals broke on my way home, and I had the answer.

Finding the perfect pair of shoes can be hard, especially if you're like me and have big feet (I've always stared in envy of those lucky enough to be blessed with dainty, size 6 trotters who look like they've just stepped out of a Louboutin advert). However jandals are luckily not too strenuous, due to the open style, all that really matters is that your foot fits the sole and the strap holds it in place.
(To make matters worse, on a recent shopping trip in Sydney, I almost, ALMOST bought a new pair of Havaianas but decided that I didn't really need a new pair and instead opted for an altogether much more expensive ensemble of an Equipment shirt and J Brand skinnies.)

One great thing about kandals is that you can really have fun with colours and prints as they're only really worn to the beach or pool and in casual social situations (unless you're one of those people who were jandals out to dinner; that is unacceptable).

I have a small but crucial list of must haves:
Slim straps
No white or light colours (they mark way too easily)
Printed or colour-blocked (plain neutrals are boring)

I've pretty much stuck with Havaianas as they are super comfy and have a pretty big range to choose from, here are my findings:

Havaianas Slim Tribal in Golden Sun. - Gorgeous and would've snapped them up straight away, but they didn't have my size! http://havaianasnz.co.nz/specials/womens-specials/slim-tribal-golden-sun_scp_ptid=3615_ctid=859_.html

Havaianas Slim Morocco in Navy Blue - Cute print and love the pop of gold with the strap.

A little more subtle and I love the contrasting but complimenting colours.

Hmm I have a hard decision to make!
Which pair is your fav?
